Deanery & parish data

Across the Archdiocese there are 109 parishes stretching from Coolangatta-Tugun in the south, to Hervey Bay and Childers in the north, west to Gatton and east to the Redlands and the Moreton Bay Islands.

As at 1st February 2002, there were 124 priests engaged in full-time parish ministry of which 107 were parish priests/administrators and 17 were assistant priests. Religious order clergy administer 17 parishes. In the 26 parishes who share a pastor, there are 12 priests each of whom pastors two or more parishes.

Almost 50 parishes employ a full-time or part-time pastoral associate.

The 109 parishes are grouped into 13 geographical deaneries. The 13 deans meet regularly with the Archbishop, the two Auxiliary Bishops and the Moderator.

Key statistical data on all parishes, grouped by deaneries, is to be found on the following pages.
