Powerhouses of the local Church

Representatives of almost seventy Parish and Deanery Pastoral Councils attended the Annual Commissioning Mass for Pastoral Councils which was celebrated by Archbishop Bathersby in St Stephen's Cathedral.

As part of the commissioning ceremony within the Mass, pastoral councillors committed themselves to work with integrity and courage to serve their faith communities as they share in the mission of the Church.

In addition every chairperson received a lighted candle as a symbolic reminder for all to plan and act with the mind of Christ in the service of their faith communities.

Archbishop Bathersby thanked all pastoral councillors for their significant input to the ongoing life and vitality of the Archdiocese, describing them as one of the powerhouses of the local Church.

Throughout the Mass, the cathedral resounded to the enthusiastic singing of the congregation, capably lead by St Bernard's Parish Choir, Upper Mt Gravatt, whose music director is Danuta Cleland.
