Pope Benedict XVI accepts Archbishop Bathersby's resignation

The Vatican has confirmed the Holy Father has accepted the resignation of Brisbane's Archbishop, the Most Rev John Bathersby, effective from November 14. In addition, he has appointed Most Rev Bishop Geoffrey Jarrett of the Lismore diocese as the Apostolic Administrator until a new Archbishop is chosen.

Archdiocese stands firm on legislation that would undermine marriage

The Director of the John Paul II Centre for Family and Life has talked against the bill recently introduced to State Parliament proposing civil unions, saying it would further undermine marriage.
