Disability supportThe Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and the Catholic Church in Australia are committed to the areas of full participation and inclusion of people with disability within the life of its faith communities. To this end it seeks to promote and encourage the building of a truly inclusive ‘Body of Christ’ where all are welcomed and included. In the Archdiocese of Brisbane, the issue of disability is addressed either through Centacare Brisbane or through the Ministry and Community Life Team , a part of the Faith & Life Vicariate . Centacare Brisbane aims to assist people with a disability and their families or carers through a diverse range of services broadly grouped under the umbrella “Disability Support”. For more information about how people with a disability can be assisted to live in their own residence and remain active in their local communities, or how their families or carers can utilise respite services or enhance the person with a disability’s lifestyle options please see the Centacare Brisbane website . The Ministry and Community Life team provide a range of services to parishes and deaneries within the Brisbane Archdiocese assisting them to extend their pastoral reach to include people with a disability and their families in the Celebration of Eucharist, the celebration of the other sacraments and generally to enjoy participation in the wider life of the parish community.
